Legendary style master Gerry Lopez, aka Mr. Pipeline, will be signing his book Surf Is Where You Find It in the Patagonia booth on Sunday, May 17, at the Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo in Ventura. The famous goofy-foot will also be shaping a surfboard at the one-of-a-kind surfboard festival.

Adding to the literary element of the expo, author David Rensin, All for a Few Perfect Waves: The Audacious Life & Times of Surfing Rebel Miki Dora, will host a seminar discussion about one of surfing's most classic characters, Miki Dora. Mr. Rensin's seminar takes place at Noon on Sunday in the Bubble Gum Surf Wax seminar room (McBride Hall).

In other news, Josh Bradbury has named SaveNaples.org as the beneficiary for the Tribute to the Masters Shape-off presented by Channel Islands Surfboards in honor of his late father John Bradbury. SaveNaples.org is in a land use battle with developers. A check for $1000.00 will be made out to SaveNaples.org in John Bradbury's name.

"I heard about Nole's (Cossart) paddle down the coast to raise awareness for this area's coastline, and I knew it was a cause my dad would be a supporter of," said Bradbury. "It makes perfect sense and I'm stoked to see the money from the shape-off go to a worthy cause in my father's name."

Surfers attending Sacred Craft are urged to bring as many old or broken landfill-bound surfboards to the ReRip.com recycling booth. ReRip.com is giving away a new Mirandon surfboard to the attendee who brings in the most boards! Runners up will receive goodies from Patagonia and Sanuk.

Other exciting attractions for the public include Ashley Lloyd, Mattson 2, Joey Peat, and Shane Stoneman, all of whom will grace the musical stage on the green; seminars, board demos, MyGym Ventura has fun activites for toddlers & kids; SURFER magazine presents an historical exhibit, surf movies loop overhead; vendors offer great surf art; Primo beer; and, of course, the greatest collection of contemporary surfboards in the world.
